About me

Hi there, Nina here – a few years ago, I swapped Brazil’s vibrant chaos for the misty mornings of the UK. By day, I work in tech, but my heart lives in slow moments, mismatched mugs, and the art of turning solitude into something sacred.

Living alone, far from family and old friends, wasn’t always easy. At first, the quiet felt heavy. But over time, I’ve learnt that loneliness and solitude are not the same. One aches; the other heals.

This blog is my love letter to the intentional solo life — and proof that a home for one can still feel whole.

What you'll find here

  • Slow living for urban folks: Morning rituals, cooking for one, and curating ideas that hug your soul.
  • Solo travel with purpose: How to wander alone (without feeling lonely) and connect deeply with new cultures.

  • The messy bits of solo life: Homesickness, making friends abroad, and celebrating tiny wins.

  • Letters to my solo self: Raw reflections on identity, career, and why being “enough” is the ultimate rebellion.

Why I Write About This:

Because living alone isn’t about isolation — it’s about intention. It’s slow mornings with filter coffee, evenings rearranging furniture just because you can, and realising the person you’re becoming is someone you actually like.

Whether you’re solo by choice, circumstance, or curiosity: pull up a chair. The kettle’s on.

My Little Pleasures:

Morning filter coffee: My daily meditation (no milk, no rush).
🚶 Long walks along the River Cam: Where nature reminds me that even water finds its way.
🌿 Mama plants: My leafy “flatbabies” (yes, I apologise when I forget to water them).

Let's connect:

I want TheIntentionalSolo to feel like our shared kitchen table — mismatched mugs and all. Leave a comment, send a question, or share your story. Together, we’ll rewrite what it means to live (and thrive) alone.

A collection of leafy companions creating a calming, nature-inspired corner for plant lovers and mindful living.
Serene view of the River Cam, with soft reflections on the water and a peaceful atmosphere. A moment of solitude and mindful walking along the riverbanks, embracing slow living.
